How Long Can We Sleep??
I slept when Kanishka was blown up. I slept when hindus killed muslims, when muslims killed hindus – regardless of age, gender or region. I slept when sikhs were gutted and killed. I slept when Kashmir burnt. I slept when a plane full of passengers and crew was taken to Kandahar. I slept when Biharis were targeted. And so will I sleep tonight when Mumbai once again burns. I am an Indian. I sleep.
My country has been taken hostage not by terrorists. No, not by terrorists, but by people within it - ruling it. My country and my countrymen are held hostage and captive by its incompetent, uneducated, dishonest, exploitative, impotent, inefficient politicians, government and all its administrative departments.
Efficiency is shown in bribing and in buying votes and seats, competence in bringing down other parties, expertise in bringing discord and playing divisive politics.
Regionalism has reared its ugly head because I am sleeping. Reservation is still strongly advocated because I am sleeping. Corruption is deep – rooted because I am sleeping.
Raj Thackeray targets poor, unarmed Biharis but sits snugly under tight security when terrorists strike. A well published writer endorses Thackeray's dastardly action but shuts up when Mumbai is blown apart. It is easy to hound the poor labourer from Bihar than it is to raise your finger leave alone your voice against the organised terrorist. Crime and lawlessness are second nature. Criminals go free, breathing easy under a distorted system that protects their rights, whereas a Pragya is tortured, Sanjay Dutt is not left in peace.
Every politician looks out for himself and himself alone. We have a defence ministry which defends only itself when it is found sleeping. And they are sleeping because I am sleeping. When I do rouse myself it is only for myself - to target the neighbour's dog because his nocturnal barking is disturbing my beauty sleep. No, a hundred barking dogs cannot wake me.
Criminals are made ministers because I sleep. Rapists go free when an eighty year old is penalised for smoking! Smoking is banned, bombs are allowed.
I do not fear the terrorist from across the border. I fear the terrorist lurking within the country who wears khadi and who always comes in the guise of the unqualified politician, begging at my door with folded hands, a hypocritical smile on his smug face asking for my vote.
Who do I vote for? The rapist or the religious fanatic? The murderer or the underworld don? Which honourable criminal is worthy of my esteemed vote?
My heart bleeds but I will sleep on my soft mattress under my warm blanket. I am the long suffering, resilient Indian who has somehow lost his identity among Biharis, Marathis, Kannadigas, muslims, hindus, christians, brahmins .sikhs, the list is endless.
Regards,
Naseeruddin Shah

advertisements- these sounds are all converted into electromagnetic waves (radio waves) before they reach your radio and your ears.
102. At the radio station, the announcer speaks into a microphone. The microphone changes the sound of his voice into an electrical signal. This signal is weak
and can't travel very far, so it's sent to a transmitter. The transmitter mixes the signal with some strong radio signals called carrier waves. These waves are
then sent out through a special antenna at the speed of light! They reach the antenna of your radio. Your antenna "catches" the signal, and the radio's
amplifier strengthens the signal and sends it to the speakers. The speakers vibrate, and your ears pick up the vibrations and your brain translates them into
the voice of the radio announcer back at the station. When you consider all the places the announcer's voice travels

Sorry Friends
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
Did you know that:
* Every breath we breathe in 10 to the power of 22 atoms.
* In less than one year you replace 98% of the atoms in your body.
* You create a new liver every 6 weeks.
* You create a new stomach lining every 5 days.
* You create a new skin once per month.
* You create a new skeleton every 3 months.
* The brain cells you are using to read this article did not exist one year ago.
* The raw material of DNA comes and goes every 6 weeks.
* Taste buds change every 6 weeks.
* The nervous system allows only 1 billionth of the information available to one person at any given time.
But you do not forget the taste of chocolate. You do not forget how to digest. You do not forget how to see. Your memories are not loss when your brain cells pass away.
In less than two years you replace your whole body down to the last atom, but who you are, what you remember, remains. Molecules are just the carriers of who you are; they are the temporary storage place of memories. You are constantly outliving the life if your cells. You are constantly surviving the death of your body.
The essence of who you are transcends the molecules of your physical being. There is a timeless aspect of you that survives the material form. The material form gives you a temporary shape and personality. The pattern of atoms in cells has a shelf life -the pattern wears out after repeated use.
Unlike the material, the timeless part of your self does not have a shelf life. What gives life to the material form of atom patterns is endless, eternal, ageless. This is who we are at our core - pure energy, moving in to, through, and out of form.
What does this mean for you?
* Take care of your atoms and you will extend the pattern for longer.
* Death is just an opportunity for your real self to pass through form, in to a different one.
* Your body is a printout of your thoughts and experience; these you can amend at any time.
* Enjoy your time in your current atom-pattern form - it is truly magical!
